Alex received the M.S and Ph.D. degrees in computer science from the Electrotechnical University of St.Petersburg, Russia in 1983 and 1987, respectively. From 1993 to 1999 he was an Associate professor of the Hardware Department at the University of Aizu, Japan. In 2000 he joined Theseus Logic as a senior scientist. From 2001 to 2004 he worked as a research scientist in Cadence Berkeley Laboratories.

In 2004 he became a founder of C-to-Silicon incubator targeted at the development of a new tool for high-level synthesis. This tool was converted to a Cadence product in 2008 and since then Alex worked in the product group serving as a key architect.

In 2015 Alex joined Xilinx as a principal engineer where he applied machine learning methods for timing evaluation and optimization of digital circuits. In June 2016 Alex began working at iBusiness Funding as Chief Data Scientist building predictive technology for evaluations of small businesses.

He has published over 150 journals and conference papers and 2 monographs and hold 7 US patents and more than 50 Russian patents. He is a Senior member of IEEE. His research interests include formal methods in system design, computer-aided design methodology, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
